Use Summit K12's Connect to Literacy (C2L) program, designed to enhance English language proficiency by leveraging the strengths of our online supplemental curriculum. Tailored specifically to meet ELD standards and differentiated by grade-level clusters, our personalized learning plans (PLPs) provide students with targeted practice and formative assessments, ensuring students receive research and evidence-based English Language Development year-round. What is a PLP?
A Personalized Learning Plan (PLP) is a pathway that is automatically generated for students after completing the required ELD assessment(s). The pathway will assign a list of activities based on the student's performance for each of the 4 domains: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.
PLP #1 (10-12 Weeks)
- Focus: General ELD practice
- Generated by one of three ways:
- Performance on the BOY assessment
- Importing state English Language Proficiency (ELP)assessment scores*
- Assigning one of the two Newcomer PLPs (if applicable)
PLP #2 (8-10 Weeks)
- Focus: ELD Readiness, specific item-type practice
- Generated immediately after the student submits their MOY assessment, and is based on the MOY assessment score.
PLP #3 (6-8 Weeks)
- Focus: Literacy
- Generated automatically once both of the following conditions are met:
- The date is February 1 or later
- At least 80% of PLP #2 has been completed
*The ability to generate PLP #1 based on uploaded ELP scores is determined by your district administration. If this option is enabled, Kindergarten students will still be required to take the BOY Assessment, as uploaded ELP scores do not currently generate a PLP for this grade level.
How do the mastery threshold and “Try Again” status work? (Coming Winter 2025)
This feature encourages students to demonstrate basic understanding before moving forward, while giving teachers the flexibility to enable or disable it based on their instructional needs.
- Mastery Threshold: Students must score at least 50% on any PLP or teacher-assigned ELD Readiness or quiz-type activity to move on.
- Two Attempts Allowed: Students have up to two tries to reach the 50% threshold. Students can see how many attempts they’ve used.
- Try Again Badge: After the first attempt, if a student doesn’t meet the threshold, a “Try Again” badge appears next to the activity on their PLP dashboard.
This feature is enabled by default, but teachers can turn this feature on or off for each class from the course’s accommodation page.
How do PLP assignments unlock?
Assignments on the PLP will unlock one at a time from top to bottom. The students will complete activities on their PLPs in the order they appear.
- The activity the student will need to work on will have a Start TREK button
.
- The student won't be able to open any activities that have a Locked button
.
