This guide is designed to walk district administrators through the process of uploading state assessment scores in the recommended order:
- Adjust the PLP course settings to ensure a PLP is created for a student upon data upload (optional)
- Confirm student account creation and class enrollment
- Prepare your data using the required template
- Upload your data
To ensure a seamless and precise data import, we strongly advise following the order outlined above.
Adjusting the PLP Course Settings
Adjusting the PLP Course Settings
Prior to uploading your data, you can choose to automatically generate Personalized Learning Plans (PLPs) for students using the incoming scores.
In order for PLPs to be generated for students, the following conditions must be met:
- Student accounts must be created on Summit K12 with the exact student ID* provided in the uploaded assessment file.
- Students must be enrolled in a Connect to Literacy class.
*If you need assistance verifying with which student ID your students were rostered to Summit K12, please contact Summit K12 Support by submitting a request.
Note: PLP settings are managed by district administrators and any options enabled in the following steps will apply district-wide. Settings cannot be customized for individual schools.
1. On the left side menu, select Course Settings.
2. Select the Generate PLP #1 Based On dropdown menu to change the setting that will determine how the PLPs should be created for students.
- BOY Assessment (Default setting) - A PLP will be automatically generated based on the students’ BOY Assessment scores.
- Uploaded State Scores - A PLP will be automatically generated based on the uploaded state assessment scores.
3. Choose the Uploaded State Scores option so a PLP is generated from the uploaded state scores.
4. The setting to automatically generate a PLP based on the BOY Assessment score for any student who does not have state score data uploaded is enabled by default. This ensures the student still receives a PLP.
Toggle the button to disable this setting.
5. The setting to automatically generate a PLP for students in 1st and 2nd grade based on the uploaded state scores is disabled by default.
Toggle the button to enable this setting. If you choose to enable it, check the boxes for which grade this should apply.
Note: Administering the BOY Assessment is recommended for 1st and 2nd-grade students to get an accurate representation of student proficiency.
6. Once all the desired settings have been set, select Save.
Uploading Assessment Scores
Once the PLP Course settings have been determined, the data can be prepared and uploaded.
Before uploading scores, confirm the following:
- Students are rostered to Summit K12.
- Students are enrolled in a Connect to Literacy class.
1. On your District Admin Dashboard, select District Settings.
2. Select Upload State Assessment Scores from the left side menu. This will open the upload page.
3. Select Download Template to download the ELP State Scores Template that will be utilized to upload the data. You can also click here to download.
The use of this specific template is required. An attempt to use another template will result in an unsuccessful upload.
4. Fill out each column with the required information for all students using the Connect to Literacy program.

Note: Alternate scores should not be uploaded, as they are not directly comparable to standard scores and may interfere with accurate PLP generation.
💡Tip: Double-check all entries for accuracy before saving the file. Incorrect data may lead to upload failures.
5. Prior to uploading your data, choose the subject that matches your curriculum standard* and assessment framework.
Assessment | Connect to Literacy Subject |
TELPAS | C2L TX |
ELPAC Summative | C2L CA |
WIDA™ ACCESS® | C2L WIDA |

6. Drag and drop your completed CSV file template into the upload designated area, or click to select the file from your computer.
7. If the file is valid, you will see a 25-row preview of the data. Select the Upload Scores button to upload the file.
Upon successful initial upload of the file, an alert in green stating "File uploaded successfully!" will appear next to the file name.
If the Upload Scores button is grayed out or if an alert in red is received, please see the troubleshooting section of this guide.
The upload fields will reset and the file will be logged in your Upload History where you can track the upload status of the data into our system.
8. Refresh your browser to update the status.
Reviewing the Upload History
The Upload History section provides a record of the current and previous assessment score uploads.
It includes:
- File name
- Subject for which the upload was completed
- The year of the scores uploaded
- The user who uploaded the file
- Date and time the file was uploaded
- Status of upload
Status | Meaning |
In-progress | The current upload is in progress |
Success | The current or previous upload was successful |
Failed (Debug Info) | The upload was not successful, and errors with the upload can be reviewed if Debug Info is selected |
The history can be sorted by column headers and searched using the search bar.
Please note that the Summit K12 LMS presently supports the upload of ELP scores only.
Troubleshooting
The system includes built-in error detection to help you quickly identify and resolve issues. Below is a list of common errors along with their recommended solutions.
The Upload Scores button is grayed out
Invalid file type
Please ensure you are uploading a .csv file.
Multiple files prompt
Upload only one file at a time.
Upload Scores button is grayed out
The Upload Scores button will remain disabled when the file format does not match the expected template. Once the file is reuploaded with the valid template, the Upload Scores button will become clickable.
Debug Info or alerts in red
Allows you to identify in which row or column of your data there are invalid values. Once these are corrected, attempt to upload your file again.
Zeroes or blanks in data
When uploading state assessment scores, it's important to understand how missing or zero values affect PLP generation.
General Rule:
PLPs will generate only for domains that include a valid score. If a score is missing or marked as zero for a specific domain, a PLP will not be generated for that domain.
What to do if a domain score is missing:
If a student is missing a score for a domain, they can complete the BOY assessment to generate a PLP for that domain.
AZELLA Exception:
For AZELLA, PLP generation requires all five domain scores. If even one domain is missing or recorded as zero, the system will return an error on the Upload State Scores screen.
Make sure to review your file carefully before uploading and confirm all required scores are present, especially for AZELLA assessments.
If you encounter any additional errors or have completed all available troubleshooting steps, please contact our support team for further assistance.
