Administrators can create Support Teacher accounts using the Create New User tool on Summit K12.
Support Teachers will NOT have their own Summit K12 class created and will need to be enrolled in a Lead Teacher's class. Once added to a Lead Teacher's class, they'll have similar abilities as the Lead Teacher.
This tool is recommended for rostering small amounts of Support Teachers. To roster large amounts of Support Teachers or roster Lead Teachers, view Adding Additional Teachers/Admins to Summit K12.
The Create New User tool can be disabled by the District Administrators. To disable this tool, submit a support request to Summit K12 Support.
1. Select My Courses.
2. Select the + ENROLL button.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the page labeled CREATE NEW USER.
Don’t see the Create New User tool? This indicates your District Administration or technology department has chosen to disable the feature. Please contact your District Administration or IT/Tech department for additional assistance.
4. Select the role Teacher from the Role dropdown.
5. Complete the required fields that are marked with a red asterisk.
6. Once all the fields have been filled out, click Create user. The Support Teacher will be automatically enrolled in that class.
If you receive the notification "Student exists in this class"*, this means that an account has already been created using this email. The user is enrolled as a Support Teacher in the current class and will be found on the class list.
If you receive the notification “Student exists in your school, use selection pane above to enroll into class”*, this means that an account has already been created using this email. The user is not yet enrolled as a Support Teacher in the current class.
If you are unable to create an account due to it already existing at another campus, contact Summit K12 Support to transfer the teacher*.
Additionally, if any changes need to be made to an account (for instance changes to name, email, etc.) that was created, please submit a support request to Summit K12 Support.
*Identical alert messages appear for student accounts and Support Teacher accounts.
