Prompts offered in the Differentiated Writing Practice section of the Reading-Writing course are additional opportunities for students to practice their writing in a low-stakes environment.
There are 10 themes in K-1 and 15 themes in 2-12 that include an Engage Video and differentiated sentence stems for each of the levels:
- K-1: Level 1, Level 2
- 2-12: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Advanced High
Each level will contain two different sentence stems for students to complete and submit for rating.
Teachers unlock themes at their discretion and direct students on which of the leveled prompts to do. Although themes can be unlocked in any order, we recommend unlocking themes related to a unit of study students are learning in one of their core subject areas.
