1. To assign a benchmark, select My Course on your Teacher Dashboard or My Courses in the navigation bar.
2. Navigate to your desired class and choose the course icon containing the benchmark you wish to assign.* Benchmarks are found in the Listening-Speaking or Reading-Writing courses.
*Available course icons will vary depending on your Connect to Literacy subscription.
3. Select the leftmost icon titled ELD Benchmarks-PLPs.

4. Select the corresponding Assign button of the benchmark you wish to assign.
5. Use the checkbox to select which student(s) the benchmark will be assigned to. The system will automatically select all students who do not currently have it assigned. Only students enrolled in the selected class will appear.
6. Choose the Start Date & Time, Due Date & Time, and Close Date & Time for the benchmark*. The Due Date must be set after the Start Date and, if applicable, before the Close Date.
The Start and Close Date fields will automatically populate with the open and close dates of any testing windows set by your administration. If the Close Date is left blank, the benchmark will automatically close once your district's testing window has passed.
Start Date & Time (required): The date and time the assignment becomes available for students to access. The assignment will not appear on students’ dashboards until the Start Date/Time.
Due Date & Time (optional): The date and time the assignment must be completed.
Close Date & Time (optional): The assignment will be removed from the students' dashboard at the selected date/time and becomes unavailable for students to access. This field will auto-populate with a Close Date for the end of the year unless stated otherwise.
*Timestamps adhere to local computers.
7. Select Apply and Assign to selected student(s). When new students are enrolled in the class, the system will not auto-assign the benchmark. Teachers must return to the benchmark and assign Start, Due, and/or Close dates for the newly enrolled students.
8. The Assign icon will indicate whether the content has been assigned to none, some, or all students enrolled in the corresponding Summit K12 class.

Teachers, Support Teachers, School Admins, or District Admins may assign benchmarks for any Connect to Literacy class they can access. This process should be repeated for any class whose benchmarks you wish to administer*.
Students will find the assigned benchmark(s) on their My Summit Base dashboard for Connect to Literacy in the My Assignments tab.
When a student submits a benchmark, a PLP (Personalized Learning Plan) will be generated. For more details, see the related articles below:
