Learn how to assign an activity in your Connect to Literacy course for Texas English Language Development! To assign ELD benchmark assessments, please view How to Assign a Benchmark Assessment - TX ELD. Information about reassigning or unassigning content can be found in Assigning Summit K12 Activities.
1. To assign an activity, select My Course on your Teacher Dashboard or My Courses in the navigation bar.
2. Navigate to your desired class and choose the course icon containing the activity you wish to assign.*
*Available course icons will vary depending on your Connect to Literacy subscription.
3. After choosing a course, select a section and subsection if applicable.
4. If navigating to the TELPAS Readiness tables for the Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing item type quizzes, you may first need to switch your view from Preview to Assign.
5. Select the corresponding Assign button of the activity you wish to assign. Depending on the content, you will either assign an individual activity or an entire row of activities.
6. Use the checkbox to select which student(s) the activity will be assigned to. The system will automatically select all students who do not currently have the activity assigned to them. Only students enrolled in the selected class will appear.
If applicable, select Require Lesson Model Video if students are expected to watch the video before attempting the activity.
7. Choose the Start Date & Time, Due Date & Time, and Close Date & Time for the assignment*. The Due Date must be set after the Start Date and, if applicable, before the Close Date.
Start Date & Time (required): The date and time the assignment becomes available for students to access. The assignment will not appear on students’ dashboards until the Start Date/Time.
Due Date & Time (optional): The date and time the assignment must be completed.
Close Date & Time (optional): The assignment will be removed from the students' dashboard at the selected date/time and becomes unavailable for students to access. This field will auto-populate with a Close Date for the end of the year unless chosen otherwise.
*Timestamps are based on the local time settings of the computer.
8. Select Apply and Assign to selected student(s). When new students are enrolled in the class, the system will not auto-assign the activity. Teachers must return to the activity and assign Start, Due, and/or Close dates for the newly enrolled students.
9. The Assign icon will indicate whether the content has been assigned to none, some, or all students enrolled in the corresponding Summit K12 class.
