Summit K12's Connect to Literacy program for WIDA Mastery includes authentic quizzes in each of the four language domains modeled after the WIDA item types.
Listening and Reading (Interpretive Mode)
Speaking and Writing (Expressive Mode)
General Information
Item types are differentiated by grade bands and are included in students' Personalized Learning Plans (PLPs) or can be unlocked as a standalone assignment for students to complete.
When using the quizzes as standalone assignments, we recommend assigning them vertically versus horizontally to ensure students have exposure to each item type. Lesson Model Videos can be watched in whole-group settings. Check or uncheck the box to require the Lesson Model Video before students can start a quiz.
Scored item type quizzes will be included in WIDA Mastery reports and in the Student ELD Reports.
Student Data
To access your Teacher Reports Dashboard, use the Reports icon of your WIDA Mastery class to pull class or individual student data. View one of our guides below for more information:
Listening and Reading (Interpretive Mode)
The Interpretive Mode course in WIDA Mastery contains numerous practice items that are modeled with unique listening and reading item types. Some Interpretive Mode item types (skills practice) may include lesson model videos that the teacher can require students to view prior to accessing the activities.
Quizzes in Listening and Reading are auto-scored by our AI. If scores do not populate right away, refresh the page to load the scores.
At the bottom of the Readiness page, under the Skills Practice table, is the Access Readiness table with items specifically built to prepare students for the WIDA ACCESS exam. This table will have all four key uses with five standards for student practice in tiered tables. The Access Readiness tables are available for 1st-12th grade.
Speaking and Writing (Expressive Mode)
The Speaking-Writing course in our Connect to Literacy program contains Skills Practice item types with lesson model videos and available scaffolds, along with an Access Readiness table at the bottom of the page.
Quizzes in Speaking are auto-scored by our AI*, while most item type quizzes in Writing will need to be scored by the teacher. A Pending notification will appear until the quiz has been scored. To learn how to score WIDA Writing item types, please view Scoring Constructed Responses in WIDA Access Readiness-Writing.
*If a teacher believes the AI score of a Speaking response is not accurate, they can overwrite the score. To learn more about overwriting AI scoring visit How to Overwrite AI Scoring on Recordings - WIDA.
