How to Score Constructed Responses in WIDA Access Readiness Writing
1. Navigate to the appropriate class and select Reports. This will open the TEACHER REPORTS DASHBOARD.
2. Under Expressive Mode Reports, select ELD Writing Mastery.
3. Select WIDA Writing Practice-Mastery to view the completed quizzes.
4. Use the Report dropdown menu to select WIDA Writing Mastery to populate a class report.
5. On the class report, you will see a list of enrolled students. Click on the name of a student who has submitted a constructed response quiz. This will open the student's individual report.
6. Click on the Pending label. Use the Student dropdown menu to toggle between different students' reports.
7. View the student's Constructed Response and Summit K12's Exemplar Response. Click on the green Score : Pending bar to view the built-in rubric.
8. Using the provided rubric, select a score for each available column*. Click Save when you are done.
*Questions that ask the student to write a list as their constructed response will only be scored using the third column, Word/Phrase Level Vocabulary Usage. The rubric will not ask you to score the student on Discourse Level Linguistic Complexity or Sentence Level Language Forms and Conventions for these types of questions.
*The rater should assign a score of 1 to Non-Scorable (NS) entries as this will accurately reflect the student's writing proficiency in accordance with WIDA ACCESS.
8. Follow the same process to score the rest of the questions and select Finish at the bottom of the page.
9. You will be redirected to the student's individual score report. Instead of being listed as Pending, the student's score will now appear in addition to an updated average for each ELD standard.
A PLD will appear once every ELD Standard in a Writing Skill has been submitted and scored.
