Managing student licenses can help administrators monitor allocation and ensure efficient use of resources throughout the district or a school. This article aims to provide information about the management of student licenses on Summit K12.
License Consumption
Once a student is enrolled in a course, whether it’s done manually or through a roster integration, they consume a license. Each enrolled student account, active and inactive, corresponds to license allocation and usage.
Unenrolling a student from a course does not automatically free up the license for reuse by another student. Licenses remain allocated unless stated differently by Summit K12.
Administrators can check the licenses being used by accessing their Reports Dashboard. School administrators will see license usage at their campus while district administrators will see license usage at the district level.
Grace Period Considerations
We understand that there are many moving parts when it comes to rostering students at the beginning of the year. Therefore, at the start of the academic year, Summit K12 offers a grace period for the first two months of implementation. During this period, students who are enrolled and unenrolled from a course will not count against license usage.
After the grace period, student enrollments will be tracked as license usage. This approach ensures accurate license management throughout the year.
