Welcome to our comprehensive guide on enabling accommodations for students. In this article, read through each accommodation’s functionality and step-by-step instructions to enable specific accommodations.
Pause or Replay Speaking Type 6
Enable Accommodations
All students, regardless of accommodations, can select the Play button to manually start the audio recording. Students can pause the audio by selecting the Pause button at any time. The student can replay the instructions, conversations, and presentations twice.
When enabled, accommodations can change the playback for the required audio recordings during benchmarks. To enable accommodations in your Connect to Literacy: ELPAC Readiness class, follow these steps:
1. Select My Courses and navigate to the desired class.
2. Select Manage, followed by Accommodations.
3. The class roster will appear with a list of all available accommodations. Select the correct accommodations for each student by checking the box in the coordinating column. At this time, accommodations must be chosen individually with a Select All option coming soon!
4. Once the correct accommodations have been chosen, select Save.
Pause or Replay Listening
When the Pause or Replay Listening accommodation has been enabled, the student can replay the instructions, conversations, and presentations as many times as needed. The student will see this accommodation enabled for the ELD Listening Benchmark and ELPAC Readiness Listening activities.
Pause or Replay Speaking Type 6
When the Pause or Replay Speaking Type 6 accommodation is enabled, students can use it for any questions related to ELPAC Readiness Speaking Type 6. The student can replay the instructions, conversations, and presentations as many times as needed. These question types can appear in the ELD Speaking benchmarks, in students' Listening-Speaking PLPs, or in unlocked quizzes designated by the teacher.
L1 Support
L1 Support ensures the student will receive text and/or audio directions in the selected First Language when applicable. This added support intends to increase the student’s ability to effectively complete their ELD activities.
This accommodation is offered for the following languages:
L1 Support is currently available in the following sections of the ELPAC Readiness course*:
Listening-Speaking | Reading-Writing | Language Foundation Skills |
|
|
|
*In our concerted efforts to build authentic experiences for students, the L1 Supports will not be offered for Summit K12's ELD benchmark assessments.
Accommodation Error
We recommend setting all accommodations prior to students accessing Summit K12. If for any reason a student begins a benchmark or activity with the incorrect accommodation or without a needed accommodation, the teacher can make the necessary changes on their account, and the student will see the accommodation change on the next page*.
If a student experiences inconsistencies due to an accommodation error, contact Summit K12 Support for guidance.
*The student may also log out and log back in to see any accommodation changes. It is best practice to clear the cache on the device when following this method.
