Our Connect to Literacy ELPAC Readiness program offers ELD Benchmarks for grades K-12 that may be used to monitor students' English language proficiency throughout the school year. Each domain of the two communication modes is tested separately across 3 assessments (Oral Language for Speaking and Listening and Written Language for Reading and Writing):
- Pre-test
- Interim
- Summative
The assessments available in your ELPAC Readiness course depend on the products purchased for your district and/or campus.

Not sure when to administer the assessments? Consider viewing our suggested Implementation Guides and speak with your overseeing administration for additional guidance if needed.
We recommend emulating the ELPAC testing environment as much as possible during administration!
- Listening-Speaking Assessments: Use devices with built-in recording or microphone capabilities if students are tested one-on-one and headphones/headsets with microphones if students are tested in groups.
- Administer the assessments in an area where outside sounds and interruptions are minimized.
- Provide any designated supports or accommodations a student may need.
- Have scratch paper and pencils readily available.
Please note that Speaking items typically take longer for students to complete because each question encourages students to prepare an answer and practice reading their responses out loud before recording themselves.
Summit K12 recommends reviewing Student Guide - How to Record - ELPAC and Microphone Test on Summit K12 with students prior to administering the assessment to ensure students are set up for success.
Although the assessments vary in length, they mimic the ELPAC assessment including up to 27 unique item types. For these assessments, we suggest allocating one class period per assessment or approximately 45-60 minutes per assessment.

After 1st-12th grade students complete an assessment, a Personalized Learning Plan (PLP) will automatically be generated for them. To learn more about PLPs, please click here.
