Teachers with a STAAR-tested Science course (5th/8th Science and Biology) have an additional section titled Science STAAR Review. This section is unlocked in the Spring (mid-February) in preparation for the STAAR test. Reports can be accessed at the top right of the STAAR section:
Types of Reports
The list of STAAR Review Reports is as follows:
(Keep in mind these may slightly differ according to grade level.)
- Concept and Vocabulary Boosters
- STAAR EOC Practice Test
- Practice Test Item Analysis
- SE Performance Report
- Student Distribution Report
- STAAR PLP Progress
- Science STAAR Guarantee
STAAR/EOC Practice Test
Breaks down student performance on the STAAR Practice Test by reporting category. It includes the composite score and performance level. Once the student is finished with their Personalized Learning Plan (or PLP), it will display a badge of completion.
If you click a student's name, you will see a student's individual report and their PLP activity such as their pre-test score, Concept Review completion, Vocabulary Booster score, and post-test score for each TEKS.
Practice Item Test Analysis
Presents a detailed analysis of the items included in the STAAR Practice Test. The analysis is based on student performance and provides the TEKS and Reporting Category associated with each question.
This analysis shows the percentage of students who picked the correct answer for each question and the percentage of students who picked other answer choices. The NR column shows the percentage of students that did not respond.
An analysis is only provided for multiple-choice questions. Grayed-out items are not multiple-choice and therefore will not show choice percentages.
Teachers can hover over a percentage to quickly identify the selected response. If an item number is clicked, the exact test question along with the correct answer will be provided.
SE Performance Report
Shows how a class performed on specific TEKS and a class' composite performance levels. It also shows the total number of students tested, the percentage that passed, and the average score for the class. Furthermore, it shows whether the TEKS tested are readiness or supporting and provides a brief description of each TEKS.
Student Distribution Report
Distributes students by performance level. There are four main performance levels: Did Not Meet, Approaches, Meets, and Masters. This report can be helpful for creating small groups or differentiating instruction.
STAAR PLP Progress
Shows the practice test score and the performance level of each student, and it also gives the teacher the PLP completion percentage for each student. This way, teachers can easily see how far along students are in their completion of the STAAR PLP.
If you click a student's name, you will see a detailed view of the student's progress on their PLP including their pre-test score, if they have completed the concept review, their vocabulary booster score, and their post-test score for each TEKS.
Science STAAR Guarantee
If a school’s 5th grade, 8th grade, and/or Biology students complete the STAAR Practice test and all rows of the STAAR Review PLP, then Summit K12 guarantees that those students are to “pass” the STAAR test. This report allows teachers to easily verify which students have qualified for the Guarantee*.
