Recording on the Pronunciation Perfector
How to Record
Once students are on a speaking question on an assessment, quiz, or activity, they will click the Play button at the top of the page to listen to the available instruction and question audio. Some activities require students to first listen to the audio before they can record their answers.
If a student attempts to record their answer without first listening to the instruction and question audio, an alert will appear on their screen.
Students can record as many times as they need to.
Students will follow the steps below when they are ready to record:
Step 1: Click the Microphone button to begin recording an answer. Students should speak clearly and loud enough into their microphone.
Step 2: Click the Stop button to stop recording.
Step 3: Click the green Play button to listen to a recording.
If a student would like to record their answer again, they can click on the Microphone button. The new recording will delete their previous response. The new recording will become their answer.
Recordings will be saved automatically once students move on to the next question. The recordings will be graded once the assessment or quiz has been submitted.
How Long Can a Recording Be?
There is no time limit on students' recordings. However, if no audio can be detected an alert will appear.
If there is no audio detected, students can test their microphone using the Summit K12 Microphone Test. View Microphone Test on Summit K12 to learn more.
Recording on the Pronunciation Perfector
The Pronunciation Perfector (PP) is not a graded assignment, but it will help students practice their speaking.
Students will first click on to start recording. When the button changes to , it means it is recording their answer. The PP will stop recording when it stops detecting audio. Students can also press to finish recording at any time.
If students see or It means they need to try recording one more time. Students can click on the blue button to record again.
If students see it means they said the word correctly and the PP will move them to the next word.
To finish click on to submit. Once submitted, students will see a green check mark or a red try again message.
If there is no audio detected, students will have three attempts to record before being automatically advanced to the next question.
