3rd-8th grade, English I, and English II students can monitor and visualize their progress on Summit K12 as they complete their Personalized Learning Plan (PLP) through Summit K12’s Avatar feature*.
*Students must have a Personalized Learning Plan (PLP) generated in order to access the Avatar feature. The amount of RLA Mastery PLPs depends on the grade level assigned.
Viewing Avatar Progress
After finishing a row of their Personalized Learning Plan (PLP), students will be shown an animated graphic of their Avatar trekking towards the summit of The Matterhorn.
Students can also view their STAAR Practice Trek progress at any time. To access their Trek, students will select My Account on Summit K12. Next, they will select My Avatar from the dropdown menu.
Treks will appear once the student has taken one of the STAAR Practice Tests for that course.
RLA Mastery assessments do not necessarily need to be completed sequentially. The avatar's progress will be updated to reflect the most recent assessment completed. For instance, if a 3rd-grade student has completed both the R/LA Pre-test and R/LA Interim Mixed Genres, their avatar’s progress will begin at PLP #4 on the mountain.
Avatar Customization
Students can customize their Avatars. To access the customization options, students will select My Account on Summit K12. Next, they will select My Avatar from the dropdown menu.
Finally, they will select My Profile on the student Avatar progress pop-up or My Avatar page.
A Personalize your Avatar pop-up will appear. Students can choose their Avatar and their Avatar’s skin tone. Current selected options will be outlined in blue. When finished customizing, students should select the Save button.
