The TEKS Writing Practice component of our RLA Mastery course follows the Writing Process outlined below.
Student Draft
1. Students will navigate to TEKS Writing Skills in their RLA Mastery course, followed by TEKS Writing Practice, and click Start for the composition unlocked by their teacher.
2. Students will read the custom Writing Prompt.
3. Then, they will type their first draft in the provided text box.
4. Click Prepare to Submit.
5. Click Finish.
Teacher Feedback
1. Navigate to your course and select Reports, then TEKS Writing.
2. Select the TEKS Writing Practice icon.
3. Select a student’s name on the class report to pull up their individual report. Then click the Draft hyperlink of the composition that needs to be reviewed.
4. Read the student's Draft.
5. Type feedback in the provided text box using the TEKS tab as a guide. Indication of the Writing Process Stage is included. Teachers can also suggest up to 2 Revising Lessons for students to watch.
6. Click Finish to save all changes.
Student Revises & Edits
1. Students will navigate to TEKS Writing Practice in their RLA Mastery course and click Draft Reviewed for the composition.
2. Students can read any feedback and watch the linked Video Lessons suggested by the teacher (optional).
3. In the same text box, students will revise and edit their composition as needed.
4. They will click Prepare to Submit.
5. Then click Finish to submit the Final Draft.
Scoring Final Draft
1. Navigate to your course and select Reports, then TEKS Writing.
2. Select the TEKS Writing Practice icon.
3. Select a student’s name on the class report to pull up their individual report. Then click the Final hyperlink of the composition that needs to be scored.
4. Read the student's Final Draft.
5. Type feedback in the provided text box using the TEKS tab as a guide. Click the RUBRIC tab to score the composition using the built-in rubrics that look at the following elements: Organization and Progression, Development of Ideas, and Use of Language/Conventions.
6. Click Save.
7. You should see a green notification that your Feedback has been submitted.
8. Click Finish.
9. The student's score will now appear on reports.
