Summit K12 offers Short Constructed Response Practice Items in our Science/Biology program for STAAR-tested grade levels to prepare students for the new question types released by TEA. If teachers choose to unlock these items for their students, they will need to score students' responses using the built-in rubrics provided*.
This guide will show you how to find and score students' constructed responses.
1. Navigate to the appropriate class and select Reports, followed by STAAR Practice Test.
2. On the class report, you will see a list of enrolled students. Click on the name of a student to pull up their individual report.
3. Next to Short Constructed Response Practice Items is a fraction that indicates how many responses have been scored. Click the fraction.
4. Click on the green Score:Pending bar to view the built-in rubric.
5. Use the Grader Information rubric to score the student's response. Scroll down to find additional information for each possible score. Click Save when you are done.
6. Follow the same process to score the other questions and select Finish at the bottom of the page.
7. You will be redirected to the student's individual score report. Instead of 0/4, the overall score will appear.
*Summit K12's rubrics for the Science Constructed Response items follow the scoring guidelines released by TEA (10/07/22). Please view their website to learn more.
