Teachers with a STAAR-tested Science course (5th/8th Science and Biology) have an additional section titled Science STAAR Review or Biology EOC Review. This section is available for unlocking in the Spring (mid-February) in preparation for STAAR. The Class STAAR Review Plan can be accessed by clicking on the Manage tab at the top right of your science class, followed by Open.
The STAAR Review Plan is a suggested plan of instruction based on student performance on Summit K12's STAAR Practice test. The plan updates in real-time and, in addition to the reporting category and TEKS classification, includes the class' mastery percentage for each test item. If a teacher has multiple Science or Biology courses, the STAAR Review Plan is a great tool teachers can use to differentiate instruction among classes.
This custom plan targets which TEKS your class will need to practice the most in the order they should review them. TEKS requiring the most reinforcement will appear at the top of the list and are organized with Readiness TEKS (R) first, followed by the supporting TEKS (S) that are most frequently tested on the STAAR.
The last column on the review plan provides an estimated amount of instructional time that should be spent on a specific TEKS.*
*Note - The suggested instructional time is based on the length of a class period. Teachers should adjust it as they see fit to meet their individual scheduling needs.
Teachers are welcome to use our STAAR Review Instructional Resources alongside their district-provided materials for reteaching and review. These resources can be found in the STAAR Review portion under Concept Boosters and are separated by Reporting Category.
A lesson guide, printable and interactive E-posters, and independent practice implementing the Summit K12 science program are included for each TEKS.
