Use this guide to learn how to assign a Placement Test in your Summit K12 Accelerated Learning course. Accelerated Learning courses are only offered for STAAR-tested grade levels in Reading, Science, and Biology. Information about reassigning or unassigning content can be found in Assigning Summit K12 Activities.
1. To assign a placement test, select My Course on your Teacher Dashboard or My Courses in the navigation bar.
2. Navigate to your desired class whose placement test you wish to assign and select Accelerated Placement.
3. Select the Assign button for the placement test.
4. Use the checkbox to select which student(s) the placement test will be assigned to. All students who do not currently have the placement test assigned in your class will be automatically selected. Only students enrolled in the selected class will appear.
5. Choose the Start Date & Time, Due Date & Time, and Close Date & Time for the placement test*. The Due Date must be set after the Start Date and, if applicable, before the Close Date.
Start Date & Time (required): The date and time the assignment becomes available for students to access. The assignment will not appear on students’ dashboards until the Start Date & Time.
Due Date & Time (optional): The date and time the assignment must be completed.
Close Date & Time (optional): The assignment will be removed from the students' dashboard at the selected date/time and becomes unavailable for students to access. This field will auto-populate with a Close Date for the end of the year unless stated otherwise.
*Timestamps adhere to local computers.
6. Select Apply and Assign to selected student(s). When new students are enrolled in the class, the system will not auto-assign the benchmark. Teachers must return to the placement test and assign Start, Due, and/or Close dates for the newly enrolled students.
7. The Assign icon will indicate whether the content has been assigned to none, some, or all students enrolled in the corresponding Summit K12 class.

Teachers, Support Teachers, School Admins, or District Admins may assign placement tests for any Accelerated Learning class they can access. This process should be repeated for any class whose placement test they wish to administer*.
Students will find the assigned placement test on their My Summit Base dashboard for Accelerated Learning in My Assignments.
When a student submits their placement test, an Accelerated Personalized Learning Plan (ALP) will be generated. For more details, see the related articles below:
