The Writing benchmark assessments we offer in our Connect to Literacy program for ELPAC are unscored by our AI and will need to be scored by the teacher. Leaving the constructed responses unscored will not prevent a student's PLP from generating however, a student's Writing score will remain as "Pending" until the CR items have been scored.
Note - the student's PLP will remain unchanged after the CR items have been scored.
1. To score your students' constructed responses on the Writing benchmark assessment, go to your course & click Reports. This will open your TEACHER REPORTS DASHBOARD
2. Under Written Language Reports, select Written Language Progress.
3. On the Reports dropdown menu, make sure ELPAC Written Language is selected. Click on a student’s name to view their individual score report. Students without a score have not started or submitted the assessment.
4. Click on Pending for the Writing benchmark assessment that needs to be scored.
5. Click on Score: Pending to begin scoring.
6. Use the provided Writing Proficiency Descriptor rubric that appears to score the student's response. Click Save before scoring the other response.
This is what should appear after scoring the student's constructed response successfully.
7. After scoring all constructed responses, scroll to the bottom and click Finish to save and update the student’s Writing score.
*Summit K12's rubrics for the Writing Constructed Response items in our ELPAC Readiness program follow the scoring guidelines released by the CA Dept of Education (2018). Please view their website to learn more.
